Fractured Log Cabin

Fractured log cabin

Fractured patchwork creates a kinetic look.

The fractured style developed along with a dramatic lifestyle change: kids. I could no longer dedicate my concentration to multiples of precisely sewn patchwork blocks. I adapted my style, making each block individually, cut to size and then shaped into an overall design.

This Fractured Log Cabin combines vibrant 1970’s vintage calicoes with modern large scale prints and uses 80 fractured blocks, to create a kinetic look. For final step I wash the quilt which causes the cotton batting or lining to “shrink”  this creates a soft texture and a puckered look that resembles an heirloom quilt.

This quilt is being auctioned to help raise funds for my friend, Lynette, to help with medical expenses for cancer treatment.
